“Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments, drawing the Rune of Opening as she does in the second book (I don’t want to give away spoilers for those who haven’t read it…)
The rune is designed entirely by me, and is not an official one.”

“Look at these,” she said, touching the white scars old healed Marks that snowflaked her silvery skin-on her throat, on her arms, on the cuves of her breasts. “Ugly, aren’t they?” / “Nothing about you is ugly, Izzy,” said Simon, honestly shocked.

Easy is the way to getting a tattoo! What do you think? Plan on getting a tattoo inspired by TMI or TID? Or have you already? Let us know!
Many fans have pointed out photos from the set of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie in which Jamie Campbell Bower is seen with the Fearless rune marked on his body. As we all know, this would be a major film faux pas because the Fearless rune is created by Clary in the next book in the series, City of Ashes.
When asked about this, Cassandra Clare responded on tumblr by saying that movie mistakes are expected (she mentioned in another post that the Shadowhunters’ Voyance runes were originally in the wrong place as well). However, the Fearless rune issue was caught early! The actors will not longer have it painted on, and the Fearless runes already filmed on the actors will be removed in post-production.
Movie mistakes are bound to happen, but that’s one less thanks to observant fans!
Cassie has finally been able to give us more details about her dinner that she had earlier this month with the cast. She gave a brief snippet of it previously, especially in regards to Godfrey Gao’s anticipated arrival on the set.
What Cassie was able to see on the set were some of Jocelyn’s paintings, as well as some other things that she still isn’t able to share. Here’s what else she said:
The actors were doing fight training most of the day anyway. Kevin came by to show us they’d dyed his hair black and Jemima came by to show the runes they’d painted on her. The Voyance rune was partway up her wrist so I grabbed her hand and explained how the Voyance rune goes on the back of your dominant hand, whichever one you use to hold weapons. Jemima was patient and did not hit me for manhandling her.
I mostly got to talk to the cast at dinner because the producers were being magnanimous and said, “Cassie, sit with your Shadowhunters.” It was basically all Shadowhunters because it was those members of the cast that needed to be there for fight training (minus Valentine but either Jonathan Rhys Meyers comes with built in fight training or he’s doing it later.
The cast seemed a bunch of sweet kind funny people who had obviously developed a good rapport. Lily showed me the terrifying bruises she is covered with from her fight training. They told me Jamie can do a somersault in midair and stick the landing (so I suppose there’s always the Olympics in his future.) We discussed Lily’s hair color (I like it. I never thought of Clary as having orange-red hair, but more dark red and fiery.)
When Cassie first tweeted about her dinner, she waited 5 minutes to get responses, and there were a bajillion, so as she was reading through some of them, the actors leaned in, curious to see what was being said:
Me: Um, Kevin, someone wants to know if you are as happy looking in the mirror every morning as they are looking at your face.
Aidan: Tell them for me that he is.
Aw, Aidan! You’re so sweet!
Me: Lily, someone really loves you, and also your hair, and also Jamie.
Jamie: I am after hair?
Did I just hear Jace in my head??
Me: Someone would like you to know you are a very good-looking cast.
Aidan: It’s true, everyone is very good-looking. I mean, not me. Everyone else!
Me: Someone wants to know what your Shadowhunter gear looks like.
Kevin: My pants are very tight. I put on tight pants today, went into the fight training room, six guys punched me, and then I threw up.
Me: I am…sorry about that. Also everyone wants to know where Robbie and Godfrey are.
Kevin then asked the “Yeah, where’s my boyfriend?” question and Lily and Jamie opined that Robbie was great and had done an amazing audition, and one of them opined that he wasn’t bad-looking either but I will not say which one.
Jemima was also very pleased she had gotten Izzy’s whip to crack on the first try. She is super sweet and speaks perfect French (as I think does Kevin, or he does an amazing job of pretending) so if you’re wondering if someone tweeting is really Jemima you can always test her French.
Cassandra will get back to Toronto in September, at which time she will get to meet Robert Sheehan (Simon) and Godfrey Gao (Magnus) in person! Can’t wait what she has to say then!

I was just passing through Tumblr when I stumbled upon this picture of Kevin Zegers, shirtless, smiling, and runed. The person who took the picture, Soapiie, was not only able to get his autograph but also was able to get a hug from shirtless Kevin.
After several minutes of trying to decipher what runes he was marked with (and it took a good while to really take those runes in, yeah), I was able to observe the rest of the picture and found it interesting how shiny his shoes were.
So can you decipher the runes that he had? Comment below! Because for some reason, I keep forgetting to actually look up the runes and write them down!
About a month before filming begins for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Sony Pictures has released its first title treatment for the movie via Cassandra Clare’s tumblr!
The title treatment is a very simplistic detail, but we love the inclusion of the angelic power rune!
This comes shortly after “Pop Maven” Mr. Will W. bumped into Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower in Toronto, where they’re working on pre-production!
Hey guys! I just wanted to share this necklace with you. I recently turned sixteen, and this was a belated birthday gift from my mom’s friend Corina. Corina is the one who introduced me to The Mortal Instruments back when City of Bones first came out. All I can say, best gift EVER!
“Happy Birthday, wish you many more always. Hope you enjoy the Rune I got you which means friendship/parabatai, from our favorite books ‘City of Bones.’”
Guys, I would totally recommend this as a gift to any of your close friends, it’s truly special.
Here’s the parabatai rune charm:
And here’s the cute little case the charm came in:

As I am sure we all know, there is only FOUR DAYS LEFT until City of Lost Souls is released. I know I am not the only one to pre-order my copy already. So the question many people have thrown my way is “What am I supposed to for the longest four days of my life since The Clockwork Prince release?” Well I have good news, I have an answer! I know some of these have been shared here before, but they are so great you need to hear them again. Some of course are new and exciting things you may not have thought of yet. Are you ready for your crash course in passing time, the TMIFandom way?
1. Re-read the series.
You may be saying, “Now hold up, four books in four days? This is TMI, not Harry Potter! We don’t have magic.” Okay good point. Around four hundred pages a day is a lot to ask. Here is what you can do. Today, pick up City of Bones. Read the first chapter, three of your favorite chapters from the middle, and the last chapter. Tomorrow, rinse, and repeat with City of Ashes and so on. This will get you in a mood to read our newest piece of gold when it is released.
Google the plot for all of the first four books individually. This will remind you of the little subplots and the big details that you need to remember in order to understand CoLS completely.
3. Fan Fiction
Get your butt on that site if you haven’t already! Look, I will make it easy: http://www.fanfiction.net . Now you have no excuse not to read how fans think it all goes behind the scenes.
4. Rune it up!
Get creative! Whether it is drawing a new one on your arms each day, doing your nails to give you strength, or making cards for friends with the ones they need on them, just do something. It will remind you of your appreciation for the series and put it in the front of your mind.
I hope that all of these help you in your journey to survive the next four days!
